The GCES is delighted to invite you to the webinar “Leave No Child Behind: Launch of the Global Report on Boys’ Disengagement From Education” by UNESCO, taking place from 1:30 – 3:00pm CET (3:30 – 5pm GST) on Thursday, 7 April.
Organized by UNESCO in partnership with Promundo and The Commonwealth Secretariat to launch the report ‘Leave no child behind: The global report on boys’ disengagement from education’ which shows that, in many countries, boys are at greater risk than girls of repeating grades, failing to complete different education levels and of having poorer learning outcomes. No less than 132 million boys are currently out of school.
While improving educational opportunities for girls globally continues to be of paramount importance, the achievement of both Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4—inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong learning opportunities for all—and SDG 5—gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls—requires gender-transformative action, including targeted action for boys who lag behind.
Webinar participants will have the opportunity to hear from different stakeholders in two panel discussions. The first will cover challenges faced by boys in regional and select country contexts while the second will focus on policy responses and good practices to re-engage boys in education.
Please feel free to share the details of this event with your networks. Registration is open and participants will be able to join us in English, French or Spanish.
