The GCES is happy to share with its members that a full-time tenure track position is currently available for the position of “Assistant Professor of Comparative and International Education and the new Bildung.” The position is offered by the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva, Switzerland.
The Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies is an independent, selective and cosmopolitan research and higher education institution dedicated to the study of world affairs, with a particular emphasis on the cross-cutting fields of international relations and development issues.
The Graduate Institute is looking for a scholar in the field of comparative and international education with a particular focus on countries in the Global South. They are especially interested in candidates who:
• analyze changing international cooperation modalities (including, for example, the rise of results-based aid and private sector involvement);
• uncover the inequalities in the current international cooperation architecture;
• critically reflect on “governance by numbers” and global norm-setting for national educational developments;
• investigate the proliferation of international large-scale student assessments (PISA, TIMSS, and regional and national standardised tests) for policy and planning in the education sector;
• explore the question of the futures of education
• study the ways in which current global challenges are having an impact on education systems, practices and policies.
